When it comes to planning your design, the possibilities are virtually limitless. You have the option to go for a more traditional style with a straightforward arrangement of 108 mala beads. Alternatively, you can infuse a bit of innovation by incorporating focus beads into the 108-bead structure, like our basic design featuring 11 mala beads interspersed with 1 focus bead.
For a more contemporary twist, consider placing the focus beads intermittently in addition to the 108 mala beads. The Mala Shala Chic design, for instance, cleverly positions 27 mala beads between 3 focal beads and 1 guru bead. This design is particularly appealing because it allows for shorter meditation sessions, sending gentle reminders after every 27, 54, and 81 beads. This option works wonders in our family, as it makes it easier to persuade the young minds to take some time to mediate when the time commitment to do so is reduced.
